The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has coordinated with the Agricultural Service Center of Cam Giang district (Hai Duong) to test African swine fever vaccine in some small-scale livestock households in the district.
Since the beginning of July, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has vaccinated more than 140 pigs from 3 households in Cam Hoang and Duc Chinh communes against African swine fever. This trial vaccination aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the vaccine in preventing African swine fever in order to carry out large-scale vaccination in the province in the coming time.
The experimental vaccine is from AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company. This vaccine is used for pigs from 4 weeks of age and older, injected in a single dose, the drug has a protection period of at least 5 months.
Previously, in October 2023, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine also conducted a trial vaccination on 40 pigs of a household in Cao An commune (Cam Giang). After 28 days of close monitoring, the unit took 16 serum samples for testing. As a result, all serum samples achieved protective immunity, the vaccinated pigs were healthy and developed normally.
