Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the memorial service for comrade Khamtay Siphandone

On April 7, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking delegation of the Party and State of Vietnam to visit and attend the memorial service for comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and former President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.

At the meetings, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his infinite sorrow and deepest condolences to the Party, State and people of Laos and the family of comrade Khamtay Siphandone.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his admiration for the great contributions and indelible marks in the history of construction and development of Laos and the revolutionary movements of the three Indochinese countries of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, a member of the Indochinese Communist Party.

The Prime Minister emphasized that comrade Khamtay Siphandone, together with Lao predecessors, led the revolutionary movement, achieving consecutive victories, bringing the Lao revolution to complete victory, and at the same time greatly contributing to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always respect and remember the role and contributions of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, a great friend, close comrade, loyal and affectionate, who played an important role in building, nurturing and developing the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The Prime Minister firmly believes that the Lao Party, State and people will turn this loss into a great source of strength to build and develop Laos to become increasingly strong.

In a solemn atmosphere, on behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, the Lao high-ranking leaders sincerely thanked and expressed their great emotion when the Party, State and people of Vietnam expressed their condolences on the passing of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, especially sending the first delegation, the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State led by General Secretary To Lam to pay their respects and today the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the funeral ceremony as well as Vietnam's decision to hold a two-day national mourning for comrade Khamtay Siphandone, demonstrating the special and rare solidarity and loyalty between the two Parties, two States and peoples as well as the personal feelings between the high-ranking leaders of Vietnam and Laos.

For his part, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed his emotion and deep gratitude for the deep affection of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the Party, State and people of Laos, especially for comrade Khamtay Siphandone.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated Vietnam's wholehearted assistance and support for Laos in the struggle for national independence as well as in the cause of national construction, protection and development up to now.

In an emotional atmosphere, the Prime Minister and senior Lao leaders reviewed the great contributions of comrade Khamtay Siphandone to the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

On this occasion, the leaders of the two countries also discussed the socio-economic development situation and current priorities in each country.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed about the preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, the organization and arrangement of the state apparatus towards streamlining, efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency, and Vietnam's socio-economic development goals.

Lao leaders have announced that they will send a high-level delegation to Vietnam to attend the P4G Partnership for Green Growth Summit and the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
