Experts predict that the North may welcome cold air during the 2025 Lunar New Year, but the intensity will not be as strong as the current wave, so it will not be too cold.
According to Professor, Dr. Phan Van Tan, former Head of the Meteorology Department, Faculty of Hydrometeorology and Oceanography, University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), the North is currently experiencing a strong cold spell that has caused temperatures to drop sharply.
Hanoi and the Northern Delta provinces will experience severe cold during the weekend (January 11-12). The mountainous and midland areas of the North will experience severe cold, with the possibility of frost and frost in the high mountainous areas of the North.
After this cold air mass, the weather in the North will be warmer, then welcome mild cold air.
Professor Tan predicts that during the Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025, the North may receive cold air, but the intensity will not be as strong as the current wave, so it will not be too cold. It is not impossible that the North will have light rain due to the influence of cold air.
Meanwhile, the South is entering the dry season, so during Tet, the weather in this region and the Central Highlands will not change much, if there is rain, it will be unseasonal rain. Some areas in the Central region may have rain when cold air flows in.
