The meteorological agency said there is little chance of extreme weather on New Year's Eve 2023. There will be no rain in the North, South and Central Highlands, with scattered rain in the Central region; Hanoi will have temperatures around 13-15 degrees Celsius, Ho Chi Minh City will have temperatures around 23 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the Northern region is experiencing a series of cold days affected by strong cold air, due to its proximity to the border, at an altitude of 1,500m above sea level, the coldest peak of Mau Son mountain (Lang Son), down to 0 degrees Celsius from the night of January 21 to January 22-23. A thin layer of frost appeared on the first day.

On January 22-23 (1-2 Tet), the North will have fog in the early morning, light rain in some places, especially in the Northeast, there will be drizzle at night and in the morning. Some mountainous areas will be very cold. The highest temperature is 23, the lowest is 15, in high mountainous areas it may be below 8 degrees Celsius.

The Central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have little rain on the night of the 30th of Tet, with fog in the early morning. The highest temperature will be 17-20 degrees Celsius, the lowest will be 13-16 degrees Celsius. This area will have scattered showers from the night of January 23 (the 2nd day of Tet).

Provinces from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue will experience scattered showers from today, with the highest temperature being 19-22 degrees Celsius and the lowest being 15-18 degrees Celsius. On January 22-23 (the first and second days of Tet), the daytime temperature will be 23-26 degrees Celsius and the nighttime temperature will be 19-21 degrees Celsius.

The area from Da Nang to Quang Ngai is forecast to have occasional rain in the last two days of the year, with the highest temperature being 23-26 degrees Celsius and the lowest temperature being 18-21 degrees Celsius. At the beginning of the year of the Cat, the rain will continue, with daytime temperatures of 25-28 degrees Celsius and nighttime temperatures of 20-22 degrees Celsius.

The area from Binh Dinh to Binh Thuan from the night of January 21-26 (December 30 to the 5th day of Tet) will have little rain, sunny days 27-30 degrees Celsius, nights 22-24 degrees Celsius. Particularly on the night of January 21 and January 24-25, the provinces from Binh Dinh to Khanh Hoa will have showers, with thunderstorms in some places.

From now until the 5th of Tet, the Central Highlands will have little rain, sunny days 26-29 degrees Celsius, with showers on January 24. At night, the temperature will drop to 17-20 degrees Celsius.

During this period, the South has little rain, sunny days 29-32 degrees Celsius, nights 22-25 degrees Celsius, in the East some places below 22 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Ho Chi Minh City on New Year's Eve is about 23-34 degrees Celsius.
