The National Highway 1K BOT station in Hoa An ward, Bien Hoa, Dong Nai has been completely dismantled; the National Highway 1K BOT station in Di An city, Binh Duong province will be completely dismantled on June 25.
BOT Station National Highway 1K has stopped collecting tolls for the past 3 years.
On June 12, Road Management Area IV (Ministry of Transport) announced that it is dismantling two BOT stations (investors build infrastructure works and have the right to collect fees for a certain period of time, then transfer the works to the state without compensation) on National Highway 1K.
These are stations that have stopped collecting fees for about 3 years.
According to the reporter's records, by noon on June 12, the dismantling of the main items at the National Highway 1K BOT station in Hoa An Ward (Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai) had been completed. Currently, workers are re-establishing the road surface and marking the traffic lanes.
During the toll station's dismantling, vehicles will move close to the roadside.
In the coming days, Road Management Area IV will dismantle the National Highway 1K BOT station located in Di An City, Binh Duong Province. The dismantling of this station will be completed by June 25.
The leader of Road Management Area IV said that the dismantling of the toll station on National Highway 1K will begin on June 9.
Due to the heavy traffic on Highway 1K, the units focused their forces on dismantling at night. After dismantling the two toll stations, Road Management Area IV will accept the route and hand it over to the local authorities for management.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 1K, the section from km 2+487 to km 12+971 is over 10km long, with 2 toll stations located in Dong Nai and Binh Duong, starting to collect tolls in 2007 and 2008.
Since October 2020, these two stations have stopped collecting tolls. After that, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Road Management Department IV (now Road Management Area IV) to temporarily manage this route.
Over the past 3 years, the two toll stations have been abandoned and degraded. Many accidents have occurred near the toll stations, some of which have resulted in fatalities.
After that, the localities proposed that the Ministry of Transport hand over National Highway 1K to local management to facilitate maintenance, upgrading, and ensure traffic safety.
Currently, in Dong Nai, there is also Tan Phu toll station (on National Highway 20), Dong Nai bridge toll station (on National Highway 1A) which has stopped collecting tolls for many years, but has not been dismantled, causing many traffic consequences.
Recently, the Ministry of Transport issued a decision to adjust National Highway 1K through Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City into a local road, and at the same time hand over the road to localities for management, exploitation, and maintenance according to regulations.
Specifically, adjust the section of National Highway 1K in Dong Nai province from Km0+000 - Km6+097 to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province for management.
The section of National Highway 1K in Binh Duong province from Km6+097 - Km11+168 is under the management of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee. The section of National Highway 1K in Ho Chi Minh City from Km11+168-Km12+987 is under the management of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
The Ministry of Transport also assigned the Department of Roads to compile statistics on road infrastructure assets of sections of National Highway 1K to organize handover to localities./.
