Although the car fuel filter is a small part in the fuel supply system for the vehicle's operation, it is very important.

Car fuel filters have the function of filtering out rust and impurities in gasoline.

The fuel filter has the function of removing dirt, residue or impurities in the gasoline before the gasoline passes through the fuel pump, fuel injector to enter the engine combustion chamber.

Removing all impurities helps the fuel combustion process to take place more easily and efficiently, while helping to prolong the life of the internal engine parts. From there, the vehicle operates smoothly, durably and moreover, it can also save the maximum amount of fuel consumed, avoiding the phenomenon of the vehicle emitting black smoke due to not consuming all the fuel.

Impurities are the cause of damage, causing the vehicle's engine system to become clogged and unstable. Over time, this can reduce the life of the parts and require replacement, causing a lot of costs for the vehicle owner.

As a part that filters dirt and impurities, after a period of use, the car's fuel filter will become dusty and gradually corroded. This condition, if left for a long time, will reduce operating efficiency, causing the filtering process to slow down.

Worse still, the blockage prevents the engine from receiving enough fuel to ensure vehicle operation, which leads to phenomena such as stalling, difficulty starting, or jerking when moving.

When to change car fuel filter?

According to experts, the most suitable time to change the fuel filter is after 2 years of operation or after traveling 40,000 km.

However, in reality, with the current road and air conditions on most roads in Vietnam, car owners may have to consider replacing the fuel filter sooner. You can check the quality of the fuel filter based on the following vehicle symptoms:

Difficult to start and weak, vibrates when moving

The fuel filter is clogged with dirt and impurities, which makes it unable to supply enough and the right amount of fuel to the combustion chamber. This condition causes the gas and fuel to burn early, burn late, burn incompletely, and even cause the engine to stop...

The consequences can be listed as: The engine is weaker when moving, vibrates and grinds when the car is left idling. If left for longer, the car will also experience conditions such as: Difficulty starting or not starting, stalling while moving, shaking when accelerating...

Exhaust has black smoke or sparks

The appearance of sparks in the exhaust pipe, may be due to a clogged fuel filter, leading to an external explosion. A clogged fuel filter causes fuel and dirt to not be completely burned, causing them to escape through the exhaust pipe as black smoke.

The car consumes more fuel than usual.

When your car consumes more fuel than normal, you may think that the cause is a clogged fuel filter. This causes the fuel to burn early or late, so it is not burned completely.
