Cleaning and changing the car's oil filter is something that car owners always need to do during each periodic maintenance.
Oil filters are part of the lubrication system of a car engine. They are responsible for removing dirt, metal shavings, and impurities generated during engine operation.
After a long period of use, the filtering capacity of the oil filter is reduced, which can cause the metal grooves to crack, machine parts to wear out quickly and reduce the life of the engine.
Structure of car oil filter
Car oil filter is composed of the following parts:
One way valve.
The filter consists of folded film layers.
Safety valve and oil filter cup (outer housing).
In particular, the cover is coated with an additional layer of paint to increase corrosion resistance, to protect the oil filter from heat during engine operation. In addition, the exhaust valve system also has the function of adjusting the appropriate amount of oil to be fed into the engine.
The engine oil filter works on the following principle: Oil is sucked into the filter and then goes to the filter membranes. Here, the oil will be filtered of dirt by the film layers, then the oil will go back out through the middle core of the filter.
After a long time, the filter membrane will be covered with dirt. When this dirt layer is too thick, it will reduce the oil filtering ability.
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, car owners should change the car's oil filter periodically every 10,000km. Or car owners can also determine when to change the oil filter by observing the color of the lubricating oil and the operating condition of the engine.
Normally, the color of engine oil is dark brown, when the oil is used for a long time it will turn black due to being too dirty. This is the time you should change the car oil filter.
In addition, if you notice that the engine is experiencing problems such as: reduced power, engine overheating, consuming more fuel than usual... then it is time to check, clean or replace the car's oil filter.
It is warned that car oil filters that are not cleaned and replaced periodically will cause many problems for users. Specifically, if the car's oil filter is not replaced periodically, the oil filters will become clogged with sediment, and the filter membrane may even be torn.
Therefore, even though the oil passes through the filter cup, it cannot be filtered of dirt and it goes back into the engine, causing the risk of harming the vehicle's operation.
