According to statistics from the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole province will have more than 36,200 6th grade students, a decrease of about 5,800 students compared to the 2023-2024 school year.

The number of 6th graders in all localities decreased. The province with the largest decrease was Hai Duong city, with 5,682 6th graders, a decrease of 1,162 students; followed by Chi Linh city with 2,956 students, a decrease of 609 students; Kinh Mon town with 3,364 students, a decrease of 517 students; Kim Thanh with 2,615 students, a decrease of 496 students; Tu Ky with 3,130 students, a decrease of 491 students; Binh Giang with 2,396 students, a decrease of 471 students; Nam Sach with 2,524 students, a decrease of 440 students; Gia Loc with 2,555 students, a decrease of 403 students...

Sixth grade students in the next school year were born in 2013 (the year of the Snake). The decrease in the number of students may partly stem from parents' beliefs about birth year, so the birth rate in 2013 was low.

However, because the number of students entering grade 6 is much higher than the number of students graduating from grade 9, the total number of secondary school students in the 2024-2025 school year will still increase sharply compared to 2023-2024. Most localities will increase by about 400-700 secondary school students. This means that the number of secondary school classes will increase compared to last year. Thus, there will be a lot of pressure on schools in terms of facilities and teaching staff, while most localities are lacking teachers.
