According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), recently, many businesses have gone bankrupt and dissolved, causing many workers to lose their jobs and leave the labor relationship, which means they have left the Trade Union organization.
With the responsibility of being the representative organization of workers, more than ever, Trade Unions at all levels need to organize many activities to connect jobs for workers. When workers have jobs and stable income, they will return to connect with the organization, together building a strong Trade Union organization.
Therefore, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor directs all levels of Trade Unions when organizing activities during this year's Workers' Month to focus on thanking workers, both materially and spiritually, to help them have more motivation to overcome difficulties in the current period.
Regarding some new points in Workers' Month 2023, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said: Unlike every year, this year's Workers' Month, the Prime Minister will not have a dialogue with workers, but will meet and dialogue with delegates who are trade union officials, workers, civil servants, and laborers at the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, scheduled to be held in December 2023.
“One of the new points in Workers’ Month 2023 is that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has directed the Confederations of Labor in provinces and cities to organize thematic voter contact programs between local National Assembly deputies and voters who are union members and workers. Thereby, National Assembly deputies will have the opportunity to meet and listen to the thoughts and aspirations of those who are directly working in production, creating values for society; thereby being able to convey the thoughts and aspirations of the working class and laborers on the National Assembly forum,” the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor informed.
According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, May is also the peak month for Trade Union Congresses at all levels. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor encourages grassroots Trade Unions to integrate activities of Workers' Month into the Trade Union Congress such as: Dialogue, Thanking workers; rewarding exemplary workers, good workers... to make the Trade Union Congress more lively, closer, and practical for union members and workers.
