The minimum safe mileage in the year of award consideration has increased, and the expected number of awards is expected to increase, which are new points in the rules of the 2024 'Golden Steering Wheel' award.
Recently, the National Traffic Safety Committee issued the rules for the 12th "Golden Steering Wheel" Award in 2024. The 2024 "Golden Steering Wheel" Award ceremony is scheduled to be held on December 27 in a theatrical format and broadcast live. Compared to last year, this year's award rules have some changes.
To win the 2024 "Golden Steering Wheel" award, drivers must meet 3 "no"s: not causing traffic accidents in the year of consideration, not causing serious traffic accidents or more in the 3 years before the year of consideration, and not being handled by authorities for any form of administrative violation in the year of consideration.
The minimum safe kilometers in the year of consideration for the award will increase, specifically reaching 40,000 km for passenger transport (an increase of 20,000 km compared to 2023); 50,000 km for freight transport (an increase of 20,000 km compared to 2023) and 25,000 km for passenger transport by bus running on inner-city routes (an increase of 10,000 km compared to 2023).
For the traffic culture award, the minimum safe kilometers will reach 20,000 km (an increase of 5,000 km compared to 2023).
It is expected that the number of awards will increase this year. Accordingly, there will be 60 “Golden Steering Wheel” awards given to individuals (an increase of 10 awards compared to 2023); 30 “Golden Steering Wheel” awards for transport businesses (an increase of 10 awards); 15 Traffic Culture awards for individuals and businesses (an increase of 5 awards).
The Golden Steering Wheel Award for individuals has a cash prize of 3 million VND/prize; the Golden Steering Wheel Award for businesses has a prize of 8 million VND/prize. The Traffic Culture Award has a prize of 3 million VND/prize.
The Department of Transport has directed the Hai Duong Automobile Transport Association and transport businesses in the province to disseminate the "Golden Steering Wheel" award to all drivers. At the same time, it has instructed drivers and transport businesses to prepare application documents for the award, and coordinated with the Traffic Police Department and Hai Duong Provincial Police to confirm the application documents for the 12th "Golden Steering Wheel" award in 2024.
Application documents should be sent to the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, 10th floor, Vietnam Road Administration Building, D20 Ton That Thuyet, New Urban Area, Cau Giay, Hanoi.
Deadline for receiving award applications for individuals and groups is 5:00 p.m. on December 6, 2024.
The annual “Golden Steering Wheel” award is an opportunity to honor drivers and transport businesses that have made many contributions to ensuring traffic order and safety, raising awareness among drivers and transport businesses in complying with traffic laws.
