The Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) has produced 4,500 kg of super-original Kinh Mon golden sticky rice variety.
This amount of rice will be used for planting in this year's crop to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the seed restoration. The cost of producing 1 kg of rice seed is nearly 100,000 VND.
Previously, the Vietnam Food Crops Institute carried out the project "Research on restoration, exploitation and sustainable development of Kinh Mon yellow sticky rice variety" in the period of 2021-2023. In 2021, the institute carried out restoration of the variety; in 2022, it produced super-original varieties.
The production of Kinh Mon super purebred golden sticky rice will contribute to preserving precious rice varieties, without cross-breeding, and will give higher yield and quality of rice...
