Thanh Ha guava (Hai Duong) is famous for its delicious off-season flavor at the end of the year thanks to the dry weather, but due to the impact of storm No. 3, the output at this time has decreased sharply.

According to some communes growing guava for off-season harvest in Thanh Ha district, guava is being sold by farmers at the garden for 13,000-15,000 VND/kg, an increase of 2,000-4,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year. The weather is sunny and dry, so the guava is sweet and crunchy.

However, this year, due to the impact of storm No. 3, guava production has decreased significantly. At the time when guava was bearing young fruit, the storm hit, causing great damage, many households did not have off-season guava. Currently, farmers harvest about 1 quintal/sao, down about 7 quintals/sao compared to last year.

Traders who want to buy Thanh Ha guava have to collect for many days to get a large quantity to bring to the wholesale market and neighboring provinces.

Thanh Ha district currently has 1,918 hectares of guava, mainly grown in the communes of Lien Mac, Thanh Xuan, and An Phuong. The district has 66 concentrated guava production areas with a total area of 853 hectares, of which 5 areas are granted export growing area codes with an area of over 72 hectares. The district has 331 hectares of guava certified with VietGAP. If not affected by the storm, Thanh Ha district farmers earn nearly 500 billion VND each year from guava trees.
