The Vietnam People's Army was organized, built, led, educated and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh; it has the nature of the working class, the people and the nation; it is an army born from the people, serving the people, fighting for the people. Generations of young people joining the army always carry within them the honor and pride of standing in the heroic army.

The army is truly a great school, a place to educate, train, challenge, and temper generations of Vietnamese youth. This is a place with strict, self-disciplined, and strict discipline, but it is also a place that creates all conditions for soldiers to develop comprehensively in terms of culture, personality, intelligence, bravery, health, and nurture and develop talent.

“A strong army is thanks to skillful education, correct policies and strict discipline”, Uncle Ho once said during his lifetime. It is an honor, pride and luck for those who have, are and will be working in an environment with such a tradition.

I had the honor of serving in the army for 14 years. That time was enough for me to experience and feel the values of the military environment. Young people of our time all longed to join the army, to join the army to fight and protect the Fatherland. Temporarily putting down our pens, my friends and I joined the army, went to war, leaving behind many plans for the future.

When joining the army, every soldier must strictly follow the military regulations and orders of the commander. Here we have months of studying politics, training in tactics, preparing the political will and skills necessary for combat. Our military career begins like that.

After months of training, at the end of 1977, our unit was ordered to march to the southwestern border battlefield. Here, our people were brutally ravaged and murdered by the enemy. Our unit was also ordered to march to the Lang Son border as early as July 1978 to prepare the battlefield to protect the Fatherland's border, against the Chinese invasion in February 1979. Three years of fighting on the battlefield had trained me to become a true soldier, with a steadfast spirit, not afraid of sacrifice or hardship. Life on the battlefield also taught us patriotism, comradeship, solidarity, and unity between the army and the people.

Thank you to the military environment for not only training me during the years on the battlefield but also educating, training and educating me systematically so that I can be steadfast in all aspects of my future work. I have overcome all the hardships of my military life thanks to the solidarity and support of my comrades. That is a time that I will always remember.

The Vietnam People's Army is not only a place to fulfill one's duty to the Fatherland but also a good environment for young people to train, mature, and hone their will, health, discipline, patriotism, knowledge, and skills to help them mature and become useful members of society.
