Under the rain and cold weather of 14 degrees Celsius, dozens of ticket brokers were busy inviting passersby to buy tickets to watch the Vietnam team play Indonesia at the ASEAN Cup, at very 'expensive' prices.
Hung Vuong Street (Viet Tri, Phu Tho) at 10am on December 13, under the drizzle and the cold that "cuts the skin, cuts the flesh", dozens of ticket scalpers were still operating at full capacity. The scalpers stood and sat in groups, and whenever a passerby approached, they immediately rushed out to offer to buy tickets.
For the upcoming two home matches of the Vietnam team, VFF will sell tickets at three price levels: 100,000 - 200,000 - 300,000 VND. Although the ticket prices are considered quite cheap, fans will have a hard time buying tickets at the original price because the early ticket fever is high.
According to records, the black market price for tickets for the match between Vietnam and Indonesia this morning was "asked" by ticket brokers at 1.6 million VND/pair (original price was 600,000 VND/pair). In particular, there were pairs that were "advertised" by ticket brokers as the best seats in the stadium, priced up to 2 million VND/pair. The ticket brokers held dozens of tickets of all denominations.
In the ASEAN Cup group stage, both home matches of the Vietnam team took place at Viet Tri Stadium, which has a capacity of about 20,000 seats. After selling tickets online, VFF sold about 3,000 tickets directly to fans at the ticket counter in front of Phu Tho Provincial Gymnasium on the morning of December 12. After only about 1 hour of the Organizing Committee opening the sale, all tickets were sold out.
In addition to the "best ticket" for the match between Vietnam and Indonesia, which has the highest price, the remaining tickets for this match also have prices ranging from 1 million to 1.3 million VND/pair. Even tickets with the original price of 200,000 VND/pair are being sold by ticket brokers for 500,000-600,000 VND/pair, 3 times higher.
Tickets for the match between Vietnam and Myanmar on December 21 are more affordable, with a pair of B stands (middle gate) costing 1.4 million VND/pair. However, ticket brokers said that ticket prices for this match will increase even more if Vietnam wins against Indonesia in the next match.
The match between Vietnam and Indonesia will take place at 8pm on December 15 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho). The Indonesian team is expected to arrive in Viet Tri on the afternoon of December 13 after a 3-3 draw with Laos at home, while the Vietnamese team has already trained here for two sessions.
