Gia Loc farmers sell early cabbage, earn high profits

On the morning of October 9, some farmers in Hoang Dieu commune, Gia Luong said that many early cabbage fields in the molding stage were bought by traders at 12 million VND/sao, an increase of about 4 million VND/sao compared to the same period last year and the highest in the past few years. With this selling price, farmers earn about 8 million VND/sao.

Gia Luong and Hoang Dieu are two communes with a tradition of growing early winter vegetables in Gia Loc. After storm No. 3, about 5 hectares of cabbage in these two communes are still able to recover and develop. It is expected that from the end of October, these areas will be harvested in full.

Along with cabbage, many areas of leafy vegetables, squash, green pumpkin... planted scattered in communes in the district are also being harvested, with high prices. The price of squash and green pumpkin sold in the field is from 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg, leafy vegetables are 10,000 VND/bunch, double the same period last year. After storm No. 3, the scarcity of green vegetables has pushed up the prices of these vegetables and fruits.

This winter crop, Gia Loc district strives to plant 2,800 hectares of vegetables. By October 9, farmers in the district had planted about 800 hectares, mainly cabbage, cauliflower, kohlrabi, leafy vegetables...
