From February to April, La Binh district, Yunnan province is famous for its vast fields of canola flowers, and the festival season offers many experiences that attract visitors.
There are many places in the world where canola flowers bloom, but the fields in La Binh are different because of their vastness and brilliant beauty. When the canola flowers are in full bloom, La Binh is like a vast golden sea, honored by Guinness as the largest natural garden in the world.
The rapeseed flowers in La Binh are the Brassica napus variety, which originated in Canada in the 1970s and are grown mainly for their seeds used to make vegetable oil. Thanks to the suitable climate and soil, the rapeseed flowers in La Binh are bright yellow and bloom evenly in late winter and early spring. The blooming rapeseed flowers attract many bees and farmers who set up tents in the fields. Making honey and beekeeping are also popular occupations in La Binh.
Rapeseeds are grown over a large area of about 170 square kilometers, forming vast fields that stretch across valleys and mountain slopes. The blooming rapeseed flowers in Luoping are considered a spectacular sight. The most beautiful place for rapeseed flowers is the Jinji Mountains in the misty northeast of Luoping. When the mist clears, visitors can witness the magnificent scenery of the flowers.
