Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang failed to compete in the 800m freestyle qualifying round of the 2024 Paris Olympics, with a time of 8 minutes 8 seconds 39 this afternoon, July 29.
The poor result prevented Huy Hoang from entering the final, which was awarded to the eight best athletes in the qualifying round. After four heats, Huy Hoang ranked 28th out of 31 swimmers, 23.80 seconds behind eighth place. Austrian swimmer Felix Auboeck, who ranked first in the first heat, also failed to make the final, finishing 13th.
Huy Hoang competed in the first round with six other competitors. He appeared in the pool wearing a white cap and red shorts. He did not have a good start as usual, and competing in the second lane on the outside also put Huy Hoang at a disadvantage compared to his competitors.
