Amazed to see buckwheat flowers "out of season" in Ha Giang

For many years, viewing buckwheat flowers has become an indispensable experience for tourists when coming to Ha Giang from September to Lunar New Year.

Buckwheat flowers begin to bloom all over Ha Giang around September and October, so many tourists are surprised and delighted when they take a tour here in May and get to "check-in" with the fragile, pink-white flowers, shimmering in the sun.

Since 2015, Ha Giang has built buckwheat flowers into a tourism brand of the rocky plateau and the whole locality, with the first Buckwheat Flower Festival held. In the tours taking tourists to the rocky plateau, the headland of the Fatherland, of travel companies, one of the indispensable and attractive factors for tourists is to see buckwheat flowers blooming pink in the bright yellow sunlight.

If you come to Ha Giang from around September to Lunar New Year, visitors will be overwhelmed by the beauty of buckwheat flowers when they are in "main season", blooming all over the mountains, hillsides, valleys... But buckwheat flowers blooming in May are only grown by a few locals to serve tourists.

Ms. Minh Thy, from Can Tho, was delighted to check-in Ha Giang in the midst of a "forest" of buckwheat flowers blooming out of season in May. This was her first time coming to Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang and said it was a wonderful experience since the pandemic. She was one of more than 30 people in the survey team of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tuyen Quang in coordination with Vietravel Company, organized from May 6 to May 12 to build new, more attractive tourism products, promoting tourism links between the two localities.

Ha Giang possesses many majestic, pristine and softer natural landscapes thanks to the pink and white, purple-pink colors of buckwheat flowers. The color of the flowers has brought a new coat to an entire rocky mountain area.

Many tourists said they have traveled again after the Covid-19 pandemic, with Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang in the Northeast arc being their first-time destinations.

Not only domestic tourists but also international tourists have started to return after Vietnam fully opened its tourism industry, in which Ha Giang is a destination that attracts tourists' attention.
