To anticipate the demand for human resources in the semiconductor field in Vietnam, a series of universities have opened training programs in Microchip Design.
Microchip Design Industry Offers Attractive Salaries
Microchip design is a major that specializes in training human resources to serve the hi-tech industry to create high-tech products in the world. Currently, many domestic universities open majors related to this field.
Microchip Design Salary
Currently, many businesses approach students majoring in Microchip Design from their second or third year through internships, part-time jobs, and scholarships instead of waiting until students graduate.
A survey by HSIA (Ho Chi Minh City Semiconductor Technology Association) shows that IC Design engineers have different salaries based on years of experience: Fresh graduates receive an average salary of about 15 million/month.
Engineers with 1 - 3 years of experience, income ranges from 15 - 30 million/month. After 6 years, average salary is 0.6 - 1 billion VND/year. With 10 years of experience or more, salary can be more than 1.5 billion VND/year.
Ngo Quang Binh, a fourth-year student majoring in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that for students who intend to study Microchip Design, the salary is quite high.
“Microchip design is a difficult major because it requires a lot of specialized knowledge. Students who graduate from this major will not have to worry about unemployment because businesses are currently in need of human resources in this industry. Many students have not even finished their studies but have already started working part-time with a stable salary of about 10 million/month,”Quang Binh said.
Job opportunities in Microchip Design
Currently, microchip is a very important field, can be considered an important foundation field for many other fields. The development of rich and developed countries in the world today all have important contributions from the microchip industry.
Every year, IC design companies need many IC Design engineers, but the number of students trained in this field is barely enough to meet the labor market.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the semiconductor industry, including IC Design, needs 10,000 engineers each year, but the current workforce only meets less than 20%. Particularly for IC Design engineers, Vietnam needs about 1,000 people each year.
It is expected that by 2030, Vietnam will need 50,000 engineers to participate in the semiconductor industry, of which the number of Microchip Design engineers will need an additional 12,000 - 15,000 engineers.
If you are passionate about Microchip Design, candidates can refer to the admission information of some schools such as: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, University of Information Technology, University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City National University), University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University).
