Russian Foreign Minister warns that Russia and the United States are on the brink of direct military conflict.
On November 1, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that the US and Russia were being pushed closer to "direct military conflict."
The above comment was made by Mr. Lavrov in an interview with Hurriyet newspaper (Türkiye) a few days before the US presidential election.
The Russian foreign minister warned that "the two countries (Russia and the United States) are on the brink of direct military conflict," but he did not give further details.
Asked about next week's US presidential election, Mr Lavrov insisted the result would not make much difference to Russia.
“Regardless of who wins the election, we do not think that America's anti-Russian bias can change,” he said.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said his relationship with Washington would depend on the attitude of the incoming US administration.
Mr Putin welcomed Republican candidate Donald Trump's statements about wanting to end the conflict in Ukraine as "sincere".
