On September 26, United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, taking place in New York (USA).
According to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues, including the international political situation, current emerging trends, the situation in the Middle East, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, as well as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The two sides also paid special attention to the aspects of cooperation between Russia and the UN, expressed their desire to further strengthen constructive interaction between the two sides, confirmed their common commitment to the central coordinating role of the UN in international affairs and the provisions of the UN Charter in these matters.
