On September 6, Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia will complete the special military campaign when it achieves its set goals.
In an interview on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) taking place in the Russian city of Vladivostok, Mr. Peskov emphasized that Russia needs to carry out the tasks set at the beginning of the special military operation and there is currently no specific time frame for this. According to him, Moscow needs to ensure security for future generations as well as a new security structure on the continent.
The statement comes as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate, as both sides increase military activity on the ground.
Russia's ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, recently declared that no matter how much weapons the West provides to Ukraine, Russia will achieve its goals in the special military campaign.
In another development, the White House said that on September 4-5, US Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer visited Ukraine to discuss US support plans for this Eastern European country in the final months of President Joe Biden's term.
During the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky, the two sides discussed US support for Ukraine's military, energy system and economy, as well as consultations on Ukraine's strategy in the face of tensions with Russia.
Deputy Advisor Finer also met with the head of the Presidential Office and Ukrainian military officials to discuss the situation on the ground and brief Ukrainian officials on the security assistance that the United States has provided to the country.
In addition, Mr. Finer joined the Prime Minister and senior officials of the Ukrainian Government, including representatives of local authorities in Kharkov and other regions, to discuss the review of Ukraine's energy security situation, as well as the possibility of US support to repair the Eastern European country's energy system.
