27-year-old man from Hai Duong died in a mini apartment fire in Hanoi

When the fire broke out, the victim called his family saying the fire was too big and he had difficulty breathing, then about 15 minutes later he could no longer be reached.

According to the investigation of Hai Duong Newspaper reporter, by the evening of September 13, Hai Duong had 1 death in the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan district (Hanoi), Mr. LTS, born in 1997, in Tran Phu ward (Hai Duong city).

After being taken away from the scene and given emergency treatment at Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Mr. S. died shortly thereafter at 4:52 a.m. His body was handed over to his family, an autopsy was performed, and he was taken to Hai Duong for funeral arrangements at 3:30 p.m. the same day.

Mr. S. is the eldest son in the family, he has only one younger sister. Mr. S. works at Thai Viet Driving Training and Testing Center (Hanoi) and has lived in a mini apartment in Thanh Xuan district since 2019.

In 2021, Mr. S. got married and lived with his wife in this apartment building. In early 2023, Mr. S.'s wife gave birth to their first son, so they returned home to Hai Duong City. Mr. S. lived alone in room 403 (4th floor). When the incident happened, Mr. S.'s first son was only 5 months old. Mr. S. had just returned to his hometown for the weekend.

Mr. S.'s family said that when the fire broke out at 11:00 p.m. on September 12, Mr. S. called his relatives to say the fire was too big and he had difficulty breathing, and then about 15 minutes later, he could no longer be contacted. Mr. S. had gotten the key to open the emergency exit door on the balcony but could not escape and suffocated. Mr. S.'s family went to the scene that night to search for their son.

According to the Party Secretary of the area where Mr. S.'s family lives, Mr. S. is an honest, humble person and is loved by the people in the neighborhood. The leader of the People's Committee of Tran Phu Ward said that the ward will visit and encourage the family on the morning of September 14.

As of the evening of September 13, authorities have identified 56 dead and 37 injured (of which 39/56 dead have been identified). Hai Duong Newspaper continues to update information on victims in Hai Duong.
