Couple arrested for buying counterfeit money online and then selling it

They went online to order counterfeit money to keep and spend. When they tried to use it, Thach Van Binh and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc were arrested by the police of Pleiku City (Gia Lai).

The Investigation Police Agency (IPA), Pleiku City Police (Gia Lai) has just detained Thach Van Binh (born in 1980, residing in Binh Dinh province) and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc (born in 1970, residing in Can Tho city) to investigate the act of storing and circulating counterfeit money.

According to information from the investigation agency, at around 5:15 a.m. on December 6, at Phu Tho market area (in village 3, An Phu commune, Pleiku city, Gia Lai province), from information from the people, Pleiku city police caught Thach Van Binh and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc in the act of storing and circulating counterfeit money.

Through inspection, Pleiku City Police seized 21 counterfeit bills with a face value of 100,000 VND.

At the police station, Thach Van Binh confessed that in May 2023, through the social network Facebook, he ordered the above counterfeit money to keep and spend.

On December 6, on the way back to his hometown, Binh gave the above amount of money to Ngoc to go to Phu Tho market to buy things but was discovered and arrested.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency, Pleiku City Police are expanding the investigation to handle according to the provisions of law.
