The trend of saltwater intrusion in rivers in the province is happening more and more frequently, the level of encroachment is getting deeper and deeper, threatening agricultural production.
Currently, the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Co., Ltd. is maintaining 17 salinity control measurement points at many sluice gates on the rivers: Han Mau, Da Vach, Kinh Thay (Kinh Mon); Rang, Mia (Thanh Ha); Lach Tray (Kim Thanh); Luoc, Thai Binh (Tu Ky). Salinity control will be maintained regularly from November to April of the following year. This helps control and regulate water for safer production.
The company has developed a drought prevention plan for the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop to proactively respond to saltwater intrusion and the river water source of the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system is sometimes polluted, making it difficult to get water for production.
