One of the two children in Thai Nguyen died at the hospital after being taken to the emergency room. It is noteworthy that the family's two dogs that ate the children's vomit both died.
Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health said there were two cases of suspected poisoning caused by toxic substances in Kim Bang hamlet, Tan Khanh commune, Phu Binh district.
Specifically, two patients, NTP (born in 2020) and NTK (born in 2019), both residing in Kim Bang hamlet, Tan Khanh commune, Phu Binh district, were taken to Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Hospital at 7:00 p.m. on December 19 with symptoms of abdominal pain and vomiting...
At the hospital, the two patients had convulsions all over their bodies, pale skin, pale mucous membranes, purple extremities, severe vomiting, increased phlegm secretion, etc. Afterwards, patient NTP died; patient NTK was transferred to the National Children's Hospital that same night.
According to the investigation of the patient's eating history upon admission by the authorities, at noon on December 19, the two children went to a party with their family, and after eating, nothing unusual happened (all the people who ate the party with the family showed no unusual symptoms).
In the afternoon, the two children stayed at home, not knowing what they ate. At 6:30 p.m., the two children showed symptoms of stomach pain and vomiting, and their family took them to the Gang Thep Hospital for examination and treatment.
Additional information from the family said that at the same time the two children had stomach aches and vomited, the family's two dogs ate the children's vomit and both died.
Immediately after the incident, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Department of Health directed the Phu Binh District Medical Center and Tan Khanh Commune Medical Station to conduct an investigation at the patient's home to determine factors related to the incident, promptly prevent food poisoning risk factors, and visit and encourage the victim's family.
