14 students of Thai Nguyen Industrial College living in the same dormitory were hospitalized with symptoms of fever of unknown cause, of which one case died.

According to the Thai Nguyen Center for Disease Control, during the September 2 holiday, after receiving information that 3 students from Thai Nguyen Industrial College were sick and had to be transferred to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital for treatment, the Thai Nguyen Center for Disease Control coordinated with the Thai Nguyen City Medical Center to investigate and monitor specific cases.

Initial records show that the most serious case is VMC, born in 2008, permanent residence in Sung Tra commune, Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province, a student of Intermediate Electricity class K57, living in room 209 K2 - dormitory area of ​​Thai Nguyen Industrial College.

On the evening of August 29, C. had symptoms of abdominal pain and vomiting and was transferred to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital for examination and treatment.

On August 30, C. was in a coma and was diagnosed with meningitis, cholecystitis, and gallbladder polyps.

On the afternoon of August 30, C.'s condition worsened, showing signs of acute myocarditis. The patient was prescribed endotracheal intubation, blood filtration, endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, and was diagnosed with metabolic acidosis, multiple organ failure, acute heart failure, myocarditis, hepatitis B, and a very poor prognosis.

On August 31, C.'s family asked the hospital to let her go home, and then C. died at home.

The second patient is HMN, born in 2009 (permanent residence in Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province), a student of intermediate Electricity B class K58, living in room 206 K3 - dormitory of Thai Nguyen Industrial College.

On the evening of September 1, N. showed symptoms of headache, stomachache, fever of 40 degrees Celsius, and fatigue. School medical staff examined and transferred N. to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital for health monitoring and transferred to the Department of General Pediatrics for monitoring and treatment with symptoms of high fever, headache, chest pain, and stomachache of unknown cause.

Currently, N. has been transferred to the National Children's Hospital for treatment.

The third patient is TMM, born in 2009 (hometown: Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province), a student of class Electricity B, intermediate level K58, living in room 203 K3 - dormitory area of ​​Thai Nguyen Industrial College.

On September 2, M. had convulsions in her room and was transferred to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital for examination and treatment.

Currently, M. is being treated at the Emergency Department and is in a coma, on a ventilator...

In addition to these cases, Thai Nguyen Central Hospital also recorded 11 other cases of patients who are students of Thai Nguyen Industrial College, living in the same dormitory as the above patients with symptoms upon admission mainly being fever of unknown cause and are being actively treated.

After many students were hospitalized during the holiday, Thai Nguyen City Medical Center coordinated with Thai Nguyen Industrial College to disinfect the entire dormitory area K1, K2, K3 of students and the school's student cafeteria.

The health agency and the school quarantined all students in 3 dormitory rooms with deceased and hospitalized patients, ensuring daily meals in the rooms; cleaning floors, doorknobs, stairs... with regular disinfectants; informing students to self-monitor their health and inform the school when there are unusual signs, continuing to investigate the epidemic and monitor the health of students in the entire school...

Thai Nguyen Department of Health assigned the Center for Disease Control to coordinate with Thai Nguyen City Medical Center to urgently deploy disease prevention and control measures at Thai Nguyen Industrial College, urgently isolate and suppress the epidemic to prevent it from spreading in the community.
