NCA (born in 2001) and D.VV (born in 2004) went to Japan to work under the trainee program and are in a coma, losing consciousness, one of whom suffered third-degree burns, the most severe level.
An explosion occurred at the Maruyama Painting Industry Factory in Tonoshima, Kadoma City, Osaka Prefecture at around 4 p.m. on December 28 (local time), causing severe burns to 3 workers, including 2 Vietnamese trainees.
The Labor Management Board of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan has contacted relatives of Vietnamese workers as well as the management union in Japan and the dispatching company in Vietnam to learn about the situation and support related issues.
The fire almost completely destroyed a two-story steel-frame building measuring about 300 square meters, according to the fire department and police. The factory was undergoing a thorough clean-up at the time and the cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.
According to authorities, the two injured people are Vietnamese workers, NCA (born in 2001) and D.VV (born in 2004), who went to Japan to work under the trainee program. Currently, both Vietnamese workers are in a coma, unconscious, one of whom suffered third-degree burns, the most severe level.
Mr. Phan Tien Hoang, First Secretary and Head of the Labor Management Board of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, said that the Labor Management Board has contacted the management union in Japan and the dispatching company in Vietnam.
The Labor Management Board and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan also issued a document directing the Vietnamese dispatching company to coordinate with the union and work with the hospital treating the workers to request active treatment to ensure the lives and health of the two interns.
Doctors said that because the patient suffered burns all over his body, he would have to undergo partial surgery. The hospital is doing its best to treat the two Vietnamese workers.
The Labor Management Board contacted family representatives of the two injured interns to visit, encourage and answer some questions related to treatment and insurance policies.
The management union in Japan also sent an interpreter to help the family of the Vietnamese worker communicate with the hospital and the company about the victim's situation. The union said it would work with the family representative to work on insurance for the injured worker.
The explosion site is about 1 km south of Keihan Kadoma-shi Station, near the large shopping center "LaLaport Kadoma" and the Kadoma Interchange on the Kinki Expressway. According to the company's website, Maruyama Paint Industry has four factories at the site and handles exterior paint processing for electrical equipment and scientific machinery.
