Disciplinary warning for teacher involved in cheating at Genius Olympiad

Gia Dinh High School decided to discipline a teacher with a warning related to the accusation of cheating at the Genius Olympiad Competition.

On August 21, Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training Ho Tan Minh said that Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District) has decided to issue a disciplinary warning to teacher Nguyen Minh Trung, a teacher at the school, for his involvement in the accusation of cheating at the Genius Olympiad Competition.

Accordingly, the Principal of Gia Dinh High School has issued a decision on disciplining civil servants, the form of discipline is a warning for Mr. Nguyen Minh Trung, a teacher at Gia Dinh High School. The decision is effective for 12 months.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training is considering organizing a review of the Principal of this school.
Previously, in mid-July, public opinion was stirred by the news that a former female student of Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District) was accused of plagiarism when participating in the Genius Olympiad.

Accordingly, the female MC student said that her article to participate in the Genius Olympiad 2023 contest was announced by Mr. Nguyen Minh Trung, a teacher at Gia Dinh High School, Binh Thanh District, who was her companion, that she failed the qualifying round but was copied by contestant NQU (a student at Gia Dinh High School) to participate in the final round of the Genius Olympiad 2023 contest in the US and won a medal.

Regarding the above incident, the organizing committee of the Genius Olympiad has also decided to revoke the award and the participating teachers will not be allowed to participate in the tournament in 2024.
