Co Dung residents reflect on environmental pollution caused by waste treatment plant

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Khac Duong and some people in the commune reported that the Waste Treatment Plant in Viet Hong Commune (Thanh Ha) is currently operating regularly, with high columns of smoke, foul odors, causing air pollution, affecting the lives and activities of the people. They requested Kim Thanh District and superior agencies to take measures to resolve the issue.

Clarifying this content, the Secretary of the District Party Committee said that Kim Thanh district has repeatedly made recommendations to the People's Committee of Hai Duong province and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for inspection and handling. On September 21, 2022, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province decided to establish a surprise inspection team to inspect the compliance with the law on investment, land, construction, environmental protection, compliance with financial obligations and use of ODA capital in production and business activities for APT - Seraphin Hai Duong Environmental Joint Stock Company and Hai Duong Urban Works Management Joint Stock Company at 2 waste treatment plants in Viet Hong. The inspection team conducted the inspection according to the inspection contents as prescribed. In addition, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Hai Duong has installed an automatic air environment monitoring station at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Co Dung commune to monitor air quality. By June 2023, the air quality in Co Dung commune was basically within the permissible standards. Air environment management in the area continues to be strengthened.
