Jordanian security forces said the Allenby Bridge border crossing on the country's side has been temporarily closed to serve the investigation into the shooting that killed three Israelis.
On September 8, Israeli authorities said a shooting occurred at the Allenby Bridge border crossing between the occupied West Bank and Jordan, killing three Israelis.
Israeli police confirmed that they had killed the suspect.
In a statement, the Israeli military said the suspect approached the Allenby Bridge crossing from Jordan in a truck, got out of the vehicle and opened fire on Israeli security forces on duty at the crossing. The statement described the suspect as a "terrorist."
The incident occurred in an area where trucks unload cargo as they travel from Jordan into the West Bank.
The Allenby Bridge, known as the King Hussein Bridge, is located between the Jordanian capital Amman and Jerusalem, north of the Dead Sea. It is the only official border crossing between the West Bank and Jordan, allowing trucks to carry commercial goods to Palestinians in the West Bank, an area controlled by Israel since 1967.
Immediately after this incident, the Jordanian Ministry of Interior announced that it had begun investigating the shooting at the border gate.
Jordanian security forces said the border crossing on their side had been temporarily closed for investigation. Meanwhile, Israeli officials said the attack appeared to be linked to the 11-month conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The attack comes amid a surge in violence in the West Bank since the Israel-Hamas conflict erupted on October 7 last year.
