Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied Israeli involvement in deadly telecommunications equipment explosions in Lebanon on September 17-18.
On September 22, Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied Israel's involvement in the deadly telecommunications equipment explosions in Lebanon on September 17-18.
In a statement, President Herzog said: "I completely deny any involvement in this operation."
The statement was made in the context that on September 20, ABC News quoted US intelligence sources saying that Israel was involved in the production of explosive pagers across Lebanon and that it took the country at least 15 years to prepare.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies on September 17-18 killed 45 people and injured more than 3,000. The Lebanese government and Hezbollah blamed Israel for the attacks.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating. On September 22, the two sides clashed fiercely, as Israeli warplanes carried out the heaviest airstrikes in nearly a decade across southern Lebanon.
