All three major Israeli television stations reported on the second wave of Israeli airstrikes on Iran this morning.
Channel 12 reported that Israeli airstrikes took place east of the capital Tehran on the morning of October 26, and a command post of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Explosions and streaks of light continuously appeared in the sky in the center of Tehran, in the second wave of Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
Local media reported multiple explosions in eastern Tehran, and that "air defenses are still operating".
According to ABC News, a source added that so far there have been no reports of casualties or damage to the fighter jets used by Israel to attack Iran.
Channel 12 also reported that the first wave of Israeli airstrikes targeted Iran's missile production and air defense facilities.
Yisrael Ziv, a former official in the IDF's General Operations Directorate, called the Israeli airstrikes "historic," and said Israel had done "whatever it wanted" in the skies over Iran for hours, targeting some of the country's most important military targets.
According to Mr. Ziv, the fact that Israel only targets military targets has "put Iran in a dilemma" when it comes to responding.
Meanwhile, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency confirmed that several military bases in Tehran were attacked by Israel. These were bases in the western and southern regions of the Iranian capital.
Iranian media also said there were no reports of fire or explosion at a key oil refinery south of the capital.
Iran's state television said operations at Tehran's airports, including Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad Airport, were continuing as usual.
However, CNN news agency reported that according to an official announcement by Iran's civil aviation authority, the country has closed its national airspace. Accordingly, Iran's airspace will be closed until 9:00 a.m. (local time) this morning, October 26.
Early this morning, around the time Israel launched its airstrikes, CNN noted on the flight tracking website FlightRadar24, four civilian planes departed from the capital Tehran.
Images released by the Israeli military show Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant commanding operations against Iran from Kirya, the IDF's military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Netanyahu and Gallant were “closely monitoring” the airstrikes on Iran “from the IDF command and control center,” an Israeli Defense Ministry spokesman said. Several other senior Israeli officials were also present at the facility, including the commander of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar.
