The cause of the helicopter crash carrying President Ebrahim Raisi in May, killing him and his entourage, was bad weather conditions and the plane was overloaded.
The information was reported by Iran's semi-official Fars news agency, citing a security source announcing the final results of the investigation into the plane crash.
The security source said investigations showed that the plane was carrying two more people than the regulations. The source confirmed: "The investigation into the crash of the plane carrying President Raisi has been completed... It is absolutely certain that what happened was an accident."
On May 19, President Raisi and his entourage were on their way to East Azerbaijan province when their helicopter crashed in a mountainous area. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also on board. All crew members on board the helicopter were killed. Preliminary investigations have found no signs of abnormalities and have ruled out sabotage. During the flight and 69 seconds before the crash, communication with the crew on a special frequency was maintained, indicating that there was no possibility of any disruption in the communication system or frequency interference.
