Hyundai is recalling more than 13,000 2024 Santa Fe vehicles in the US and Canada due to a transmission defect that can cause the vehicle to roll while in park.

Carscoops reported that Hyundai has begun a recall campaign to repair 12,349 Santa Fe vehicles sold in the US market and 806 vehicles in Canada.

The recall is due to the unstable operation of the dual-clutch transmissions equipped on the above models. The faulty control software can "accidentally" engage the clutches and damage the transmission or the parking latches. If this happens, the vehicle can drift or roll even when in park.

Hyundai recorded 45 incidents between June 3 and June 27. This is an alarming number, but the Korean automaker said it has not recorded any incidents that caused injuries, collisions or fires.

According to Hyundai, since this is a software issue, the fix is quite simple. Dealers will reinstall updated transmission control software. In the event that the vehicle's transmission is damaged due to old software, Hyundai will guarantee a free replacement for the owner.

The all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe was launched in the US market in late 2023, after being launched in Korea in August of the same year. The car has a selling price ranging from 33,950 - 48,800 USD. Compared to the previous generation, the Hyundai Santa Fe has a square style, which is said to have learned a lot from the luxury car company Land Rover.

Regarding the Santa Fe model in Vietnam, in 2023, the distributor had to launch a recall campaign to fix errors for the old generation 2017-2018 vehicles. The most serious of which was the HECU control board error that could cause the ABS braking system to not work effectively, discovered in September 2023, related to 5,675 Hyundai Santa Fe vehicles.
