The murderer of a mother and child in Chi Linh had been in prison for drugs.

According to authorities, suspect Duong Dinh Luyen (born in 1985 in Mat Son residential area, Chi Minh ward, Chi Linh city) brutally killed a mother and her child in Van An ward. He was tried by the People's Court of Chi Linh city in 2018 and sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs. Luyen was released from prison in May 2019.

After being released from prison, Luyen opened an industrial cleaning service facility. According to the leader of the People's Committee of Chi Minh Ward, since being released from prison, Luyen rarely appeared in the locality. From then until the time he killed a mother and her child in Van An Ward, Luyen had no reputation in the locality.

Luyen is the youngest in a family of 4 siblings. Luyen's father has passed away, leaving only his mother. Around 2015, Luyen met and lived as husband and wife with Ms. TTNA (born in 1993, residing in Tuong residential area, Van An ward) and had a child together in 2016. After that, the two broke up. Around 2021, Luyen met and married Ms. D.TG (born in 1994 in Van Duc ward, Chi Linh city) and had a small child.

After Luyen and Ms. NA no longer had a relationship, the two occasionally had conflicts and arguments. At around 1:50 p.m. on June 23, Luyen drove a blue pickup truck to the house of Ms. NA and her children. At this time, in addition to Ms. NA, there was also her biological mother, Ms. LTH (born in 1964).

Luyen used a weapon to stab NA and her daughter multiple times, causing both of them to die. After committing the crime, Luyen drove away and abandoned the car in a rice field in Mieu Son residential area, Thai Hoc ward (Chi Linh city). Luyen is still on the run.

Authorities are urgently coordinating to capture the perpetrator and investigate and clarify the case.
