Bridge worth over 900 billion VND completed at the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City

This afternoon, the contractor poured concrete to cover the last steel girder section, connecting the main span of a branch of Nam Ly Bridge. This is the branch that was deployed first after the project restarted in March this year, the remaining branch is being accelerated for construction.

The investor said the construction unit will focus on completing items such as bridge pavement, traffic safety system... It is expected that the entire project will be completed by September 2nd next year, helping to replace the narrow and degraded Cong Dap Rach Chiec bridge.

Nam Ly Bridge is a key traffic project in Ho Chi Minh City, 450 m long, divided into two 20 m wide branches; the remaining is an approach road 30-37 m wide. The project started in 2016 but by March 2019, when it reached about 40% of the volume, it had to stop due to land clearance problems. In March this year, the project was resumed after Thu Duc City basically completed compensation and handed over the land.

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor), said that after 6 months of restarting, the progress of the entire project has reached about 60% and disbursed 66% of the total allocated capital. The unit aims to increase the disbursement rate of this project to more than 95% by the end of this year as required by the city government.

Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee Hoang Tung said Nam Ly Bridge is one of the key projects in the area. When completed, in addition to connecting the two banks of Rach Chiec River and reducing traffic congestion on Do Xuan Hop Street, it will contribute to completing the regional traffic network.

In addition to the above project, Thu Duc City has recently basically completed compensation and handed over the site to the investor to construct the Tang Long Bridge project, with an investment cost of nearly 700 billion VND. The Ong Nhieu and Ong Bon Bridge projects are also being accelerated by the locality to clear the site to restart.
