Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway Parallel Road Opens to Traffic

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway parallel road project was started in 2017 under the BT (build - transfer) contract, with a length of about 4 km (total investment is currently being updated), including two 20m wide, 4-lane sections, located on the right side of the expressway in the direction of Long Thanh - Dau Giay.

On the route, there are 2 bridges (Ba Dat bridge, Muong Kenh bridge) and sidewalks, drainage system, lighting, trees on both sides of the road; in which, the section from Mai Chi Tho street to Do Xuan Hop street, over 3.2 km long, was opened to traffic and put into operation on September 17. The remaining section, nearly 700m long, connecting Do Xuan Hop street to Ring Road 2, is currently not completed due to site clearance problems.

According to Mr. Phan Cong Bang, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the opening of the parallel route contributes to completing the traffic network of the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City. The route helps reduce the load on the expressway access road, smooth traffic with neighboring routes such as Nguyen Thi Dinh, Do Xuan Hop, Mai Chi Tho, conveniently connecting to Ring Road 2 and synchronizing with An Phu intersection.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing the construction of An Phu intersection, so the opening of the parallel highway will also contribute to supporting traffic organization in the intersection area, limiting traffic congestion in the An Phu intersection area and the highway access road.

For the remaining section from Do Xuan Hop Street to Ring Road 2, nearly 700m long, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport requested relevant units to urgently coordinate and support investors to complete investment project adjustments, remove obstacles, and promptly hand over the site to complete procedures, complete and open the entire route to traffic in 2024.

According to the traffic organization plan to serve the exploitation of the above parallel section, the section from Do Xuan Hop Street to Nguyen Thi Dinh Street organizes two-way traffic for cars, passenger cars with 16 seats or less, and two-wheeled vehicles; trucks and passenger cars with more than 16 seats are prohibited from traveling on this section. Meanwhile, the section from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street to Mai Chi Tho Street organizes two-way traffic for two-wheeled vehicles; cars are prohibited from traveling on this section.
