Due to good behavior, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang was proposed by the prison to have her sentence reduced and it was accepted.
This morning (September 19), a source from PV said that on the same morning, An Phuoc Prison (Ministry of Public Security) was completing procedures for Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang - General Director of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company to be released from prison.
According to this source, previously, An Phuoc Prison (Department of Police Management of Prisons, Compulsory Education Facilities, and Reformatory Schools - Ministry of Public Security located in An Thai Commune, Phu Giao District, Binh Duong Province) - where Ms. Hang served her prison sentence, had proposed to reduce her sentence due to good behavior.
However, because the proposed sentence reduction coincided with the National Day holiday on September 2, priority must be given to prisoners who are pardoned first, so Ms. Hang's case will be considered after September 2.
After reviewing the case, the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City decided to reduce Ms. Hang's sentence. These decisions have been sent to An Phuoc Prison and the prosecution agencies.
According to the verdict of the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Hang must serve her prison sentence until December 2024. Thus, after the decision to reduce her sentence, Ms. Hang will be released from prison 3 months early.
“This morning, An Phuoc Prison is completing the final procedures for Ms. Hang to be released from prison early,” said the source.
In early April, the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City sentenced Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang to 2 years and 9 months in prison for "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals."
