The jury set the date to sentence 54 defendants in the "rescue flight" case.

On the morning of July 22, on the 10th working day of the first-instance trial of the "rescue flight" case, before deliberating, the panel of judges allowed 54 defendants to have their final say.

After Dao Thi Chung Thuy, Deputy Director of the International Travel Company - the last of the 54 defendants - had her final say, Judge Vu Quang Huy - the presiding judge of the trial, announced: "Due to the complexity of the case, the panel of judges will have a prolonged deliberation and will announce the verdict at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28 at the headquarters of the Hanoi People's Court."

Previously, on the morning of July 17, after announcing the indictment, the Procuracy proposed the People's Court sentence 54 defendants in the "rescue flight" case.

Group of 21 defendants prosecuted for bribery:

Defendant To Anh Dung (former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs) was proposed to be sentenced to 12-13 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Thi Huong Lan (former Director of the Consular Department) was proposed to be sentenced to 18-19 years in prison.

Defendant Do Hoang Tung (former Deputy Director) was proposed to be sentenced to 9-10 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Quang Linh, former Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister, received a bribe of more than 4 billion VND and was proposed to be sentenced to 7-8 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Tien Than, former specialist of the International Relations Department of the Government Office, received a bribe of more than 3.6 billion VND and was proposed to be sentenced to 6-7 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Thanh Hai, former Director of the International Relations Department of the Government Office, received a bribe of more than 3.6 billion VND and was recommended to be sentenced to 7-8 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Mai Anh, former Specialist, International Relations Department, Government Office, received a bribe of 3 billion VND, proposed to be sentenced to 6-7 years in prison.

Defendant Le Tuan Anh (former Chief of Office) was proposed to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison.

Defendant Luu Tuan Dung (former Deputy Head of the Citizen Protection Department) was proposed to be sentenced to 2-3 years in prison.

Defendant Vu Hong Nam (former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan) was proposed to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Hong Ha, former Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Japan, received a bribe of more than 2 billion VND and was recommended to be sentenced to 5-6 years in prison.

Defendants Ly Tien Hung (former officer of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia) and Vu Ngoc Minh (former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam in Angola) were proposed to be sentenced to 2-3 years in prison.

Defendant Pham Trung Kien (former specialist of the Department of Medical Equipment and Construction, former secretary of the Deputy Minister of Health) was proposed to be sentenced to death.

Defendant Ngo Quang Tuan (former specialist of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Transport) was proposed to be sentenced to 5-6 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Van Du (former officer of the Immigration Department, Ministry of Public Security) was proposed to be sentenced to 9-10 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Van Tan (former Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee) was proposed to be sentenced to 8-9 years in prison.

Defendant Chu Xuan Dung (former Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee) was proposed to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison.

4 defendants were prosecuted for the crime of Abusing position and power while performing official duties:

Defendant Tran Viet Thai (former Vietnamese ambassador to Malaysia) was recommended to be sentenced to 5-6 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Le Ngoc Anh was recommended to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison, Nguyen Hoang Linh was recommended to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison, and Dang Minh Phuong (also a former official of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia) was recommended to be sentenced to 2-3 years in prison.

23 people were prosecuted for Bribery:

Defendant Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang (Deputy General Director of Blue Sky Trading and Tourism Company Limited and Travel Sky Joint Stock Company) was proposed to be sentenced to 10-11 years in prison.

Defendant Le Hong Son (General Director of Blue Sky Company) was proposed to be sentenced to 11-12 years in prison.

Defendant Vo Thi Hong (Director of Minh Ngoc Air Ticket Office Trading and Service Company Limited) was proposed to be sentenced to 5-6 years in prison.

Defendant Hoang Thi Dieu Mo (General Director of An Binh Aviation Service and Tourism Trading Company Limited) was proposed to be sentenced to 8-9 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Tien Manh (Executive Director, General Director of Lu Hanh Viet Tourism and Trade Joint Stock Company) was proposed to be sentenced to 7-8 years in prison.

Defendant Hoang Anh Kiem (freelance worker) was recommended to be sentenced to 6-7 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Thi Mai Xa (Director of Masterlife Education and Tourism Joint Stock Company) was proposed to be sentenced to 4-5 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Thi Hien (freelance worker) from 3-4 years in prison.

Defendant Nguyen Anh Tuan (former Deputy Director of Hanoi Police) was proposed to be sentenced to 6-7 years in prison.

Defendant Bui Huy Hoang (specialist of the Department of Preventive Medicine, Ministry of Health) was proposed to be sentenced to 3-4 years in prison.

Defendant Pham Thi Kim Ngan (officer of the Administrative Department, Inspection Magazine) was recommended to be sentenced to 2-3 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Quoc Tuan (Director of Vietnam Trade and Tourism Promotion Joint Stock Company) was proposed to be sentenced to 2-3 years in prison.

Crime of Fraudulent Appropriation of Property:

Defendant Hoang Van Hung (former Head of Political Logistics Department, Department of Security Investigation, Ministry of Public Security) was proposed to be sentenced to 19-20 years in prison.

Defendant Tran Minh Tuan (Director of Thai Hoa Construction Joint Stock Company), was prosecuted for two crimes of Fraudulent appropriation of property and Bribery, with a proposed sentence of 15-17 years in prison.
