The multi-function electric fan product of 9th grade students of Ngu Phuc Secondary School won second prize in the Science and Technology Innovation Contest of Kim Thanh District Secondary School in the 2022-2023 school year and was selected to compete at the provincial level.

With a passion for research and guidance and support from schools, teachers, and parents, many students in Kim Thanh district have soon shown their creative abilities in science and technology and won high prizes in the province and district.

Encourage students to be creative and do research

The Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Contest organized by the Provincial People's Committee and the Science and Technology Creativity Contest for high school students organized by the Department of Education and Training (DET) annually have created an attractive playground for youth and children who are passionate about scientific research.

The Kim Thanh District Education and Training Department actively promotes the competitions on the department's website, directing schools to actively respond to the competitions. Before the competition, the department organizes meetings to listen to students presenting their ideas and creativity. With good ideas and high applicability, the department encourages schools to support them in implementing them. Department staff and teachers supplement and contribute more ideas to weak ideas. With models and products selected for the provincial competition, the department establishes a consulting team to help students complete their initiatives and ideas. Instructors and students with initiatives and products that win prizes at the district to central levels are promptly rewarded by the District People's Committee, Commune People's Committee and the Association for Promotion of Education at all levels, creating motivation for teachers and students to actively participate in scientific research.

Each school in Kim Thanh has different ways to arouse students' passion for scientific research. For the past 4 years, Ngu Phuc Secondary School has established a Science Innovation Club, attracting a large number of students to participate. Mr. Bui Van Tung, Head of the Club, said that the Club organizes activities every 2 months for students to present their ideas. Students in the school are very excited to participate in the Club because it satisfies their love and passion for scientific research. Many of their models and products have been applied in practice and brought high efficiency.

For many years, Kim Thanh has been one of the districts with a large number of models and products participating in provincial competitions and winning many high prizes. In the 16th Provincial Youth, Adolescent and Children's Creativity Contest (2021-2022), Kim Thanh had 31 models and products participating in the competition, the most in the province, and had 2 products winning third prizes and 3 products winning consolation prizes. Previously, in the 2020-2021 school year, the district also had the product "Multi-purpose Disinfectant Robot" of Ngu Phuc Secondary School winning first prize in this competition.

Over the years, Kim Thanh has been one of the localities with a large number of models and products participating in provincial competitions and winning many high awards.

Students are interested

In the 16th Provincial Youth and Children's Creativity Contest, Le Thi Bao Han, class 5B, Thuong Vu Primary School won third prize with her invention of a peanut shelling tool. Bao Han said that because her grandmother grows a lot of peanuts, she wanted to help her reduce the hardship and pain in her hands when peeling peanuts. Han's idea was supported by the school's Board of Directors, who assigned Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh to assist her. "I helped Han write the design and asked the carpenter to make the tool according to her idea," Ms. Thanh said. This tool was highly appreciated by the Organizing Committee for its practical application and was selected as one of the products for the national competition.

In the Science and Technology Innovation Contest for Kim Thanh District Secondary School in the 2022-2023 school year, the multi-function electric fan product of Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh (grade 9A), Nguyen Thu Phuong (grade 9B), Ngu Phuc Secondary School won second prize and is being completed to compete at the provincial level. Ngoc Anh said that because they wanted to limit the impact of fans on the health of the elderly, the sick and children, they came up with this idea. The regular fan is equipped with a temperature sensor, humidity meter, camera... connected to a phone, computer or TV... to get information and make appropriate adjustments. "We bought the equipment ourselves and asked the teachers to guide us on how to assemble it. After about 3 months, we had a complete product," Thu Phuong said.

In 2021-2022, Kim Thanh is the only district to receive a certificate of merit from the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in propaganda and mobilization activities for the 16th Provincial Youth, Adolescents and Children's Creativity Contest.
