Ho Tan Tai and Bui Tien Dung were called up to the Vietnamese team for the Asian Cup.

On the morning of December 31, the first day of training of the Vietnamese team to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup, coach Philippe Troussier summoned Ho Tan Tai and Bui Tien Dung.

The French coach's decision came in the context that the team had just said goodbye to central defender Nguyen Thanh Chung and midfielder Hoang Van Toan due to injury and added midfielder Pham Van Luan.

In addition, central defender Que Ngoc Hai is also racing against time to recover from his muscle injury.

Versatile defender Ho Tan Tai is in good form for the Hanoi Police Club. Since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, he has made 8 appearances and scored 2 goals.

Center back Bui Tien Dung is a regular face called up by coach Philippe Troussier. However, he has not had the chance to play under the French coach for many reasons such as form and injury.

Thus, the number of Vietnamese team members gathering today is 35. If nothing changes, coach Philippe Troussier will also select some excellent players of U23 Vietnam (who have been practicing since December 28) to increase the number of players of the Vietnamese team to about 40 players.

The number is enough for the Vietnamese team to compete internally and create competitiveness before narrowing the list down to 30 players for the training trip in Qatar before the 2023 Asian Cup.

On January 5, the Vietnamese team will depart for Qatar for training and a friendly match with Kyrgyzstan (January 9), after which the official list of 26 players to participate in the 2023 Asian Cup will be finalized.

Asian Cup 2023 takes place from January 12 to February 12, 2024 in QatarIn Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team will meet Japan (January 14), Indonesia (January 19) and Iraq (January 24).
