At the moment of welcoming back 80 fishermen from 2 sunken ships in Truong Sa, a wife hugged her husband and burst into tears.
At 2:00 p.m. on October 20, at Port of Fisheries Control Squadron No. 3 (Tam Giang Commune, Nui Thanh District, Quang Nam Province), Navy Ship 467 carrying 80 fishermen, including 2 bodies of crew members who were in distress at sea, arrived ashore to organize a handover to the border guards and local authorities according to regulations.
At the handover ceremony, there were leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee of Quang Nam province, local agencies, departments and branches and the Navy.
These are fishermen working on two fishing boats QNa 90129 TS and QNa 90927 TS (two boats sank in Truong Sa on the evening of October 16 and early morning of October 17), luckily they were rescued in time.
While waiting to leave the rescue ship and go ashore, Mr. Luong Van Trong (a crew member on the QNa 90129 TS) was visibly shocked when recalling the moment the ship had an accident. "The tornado sank the ship very quickly, about 2 minutes later. I and the fishermen who were able to hold onto the basket were lucky to survive. It was really painful because more than 10 of my fellow fishermen were still missing at sea," said Mr. Trong.
A crew member borrowed a phone to call his relatives while waiting to leave Navy ship 467.
After 4 haunting days after the shipwreck, fishermen were able to return to the mainland and reunite with their loved ones.
The bodies of two fishermen who died in the sinking of the QNa 90129 TS ship in Truong Sa were put on a vehicle by authorities to be handed over to their families for funeral arrangements.
