VNDirect trading system was attacked

At 9:30 a.m., after the opening price matching session (ATO), VNDirect Securities' online system still could not be logged in.

Duy Anh (Cau Giay, Hanoi) said he tried to log in many times since the market opened this morning, but VNDirect's online trading platform only recorded "authentication".

"The market is in a 'hot' phase, stocks are fluctuating, staying out like this makes me miss investment opportunities," said the 28-year-old investor. Duy Anh also added that he was worried when he heard that the VNDirect trading system was attacked, not knowing if his assets were affected, even though the broker confirmed that "everything is still safe".

Earlier, early in the morning, VNDirect Securities sent a notice to investors stating that the company's system was attacked from 10:00 a.m. on March 24.

"We had a difficult day but we overcame it with the support of our customers and partners," the notice sent to investors said.

VNDirect representative confirmed that the system has been fixed and is in the process of resuming transactions.

In a statement released at 9:40 a.m., VNDirect Securities said its system was attacked by an international organization. The company affirmed that all customer information and assets were secure and were not affected by the incident.

"The incident only affects current transactions and we are making every effort to restore the entire system, limiting disruption to customers' transactions today," VNDirect said.

As of 11 o'clock, investors with accounts at this company were still unable to log in and trade.

Earlier, at 8:40 a.m., 20 minutes before the market opened, VNDirect's website was inaccessible, only reporting an incident. The online trading system for investors opening accounts was also inaccessible. In a notice to investors, the company said the recovery process is expected to take time, so it will update customers when there are new developments.

VNDirect Securities was established in 2006 and is one of the largest members of the market. In 2023, the company ranked third in brokerage market share on the HoSE, with 7.01%. Its market share is only behind SSI and VPS.

By the end of 2023, the company's total assets will reach more than VND 41,000 billion, with equity of over VND 12,100 billion. VNDirect manages more than VND 83,000 billion in assets and customer asset payables.
