Korean media reported that the new generation Kia Seltos will launch in 2025, adding a hybrid transmission.
According to some sources in Korea such as ETNews and TheKoreanCarBlog, Kia Seltos will soon launch a new generation in the second half of 2025. The specific time is predicted to be August, based on the production schedule at the Kia Autoland Gwangju factory, Korea.
This B-size SUV was first introduced in 2019. So after about 6 years on the market, it is appropriate for Kia to launch a new generation version for Seltos.
In the new generation 2025, Kia Seltos is expected to have a hybrid version, playing the main role of the car line. In addition, the company will also cut diesel engines, because the majority of current car sales come from gasoline engine versions.
The 2025 Kia Seltos is expected to be built on an improved technical platform from the old chassis (SP2 to SP3). This change is to support the installation of a new hybrid system, while also enhancing safety.
The 2025 Kia Seltos hybrid system is expected to have many similarities with the Hyundai Kona Hybrid or Kia Niro. The predicted configuration includes a 1.6L engine combined with an electric motor for a capacity of 141 horsepower.
Notably, Korean sources said Kia plans to equip the Seltos with an electronic all-wheel drive (E-AWD) system to exploit markets that favor 2WD vehicles such as Europe. This upgrade promises to significantly improve the driving experience of the small SUV. The price of the car is expected to start from around 20 million won (369 million VND).
In Vietnam, Kia Seltos has just launched the 2024 facelift version since the end of March. The car has 4 versions with prices ranging from 599-799 million VND.
Once the best-selling car model in the Vietnamese market in the B-class SUV/crossover segment, Kia Seltos gradually lost its position to the appearance of Hyundai Creta. In 2023, Seltos' sales reached 9,663 vehicles - ranking second, but by 2024, both Korean models were inferior to Japanese competitors such as Honda HR-V, Toyota Yaris Cross or Mitsubishi XForce.
