To treat many illnesses for Mac Thanh Nhung in Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong), the family has run out of money.
For more than 3 months now, Mac Thanh Nhung, registered permanent resident in Phu Thu ward, currently living in Bich Nhoi 3 area, Minh Tan ward, Kinh Mon, has been suffering from many diseases such as heart disease, blood infection, pneumonia...
In early September 2024, seeing that their child often had symptoms of chest tightness, shortness of breath, and fatigue, Ms. Tran Thi Hai Ha and Mr. Mac Thanh Tri - Nhung's parents - took their child to the doctor and were shocked to learn that their child had a heart disease that was getting worse and needed urgent treatment. Worried, they took their child to Hanoi Heart Hospital for a re-examination. The doctor concluded that the child had severe mitral and tricuspid valve regurgitation, increased aortic pressure, pericardial effusion, pleural effusion, increased liver size, rheumatic heart disease, and the doctor prescribed surgery to replace the mitral and tricuspid valves and repair the aortic valve.
During the treatment at Hanoi Heart Hospital, the patient's condition did not improve and other diseases related to the respiratory tract, lungs, and brain were discovered, so the doctors consulted and transferred the patient to other hospitals for treatment of related diseases. After that, the patient returned to Hanoi Heart Hospital for further monitoring and treatment.
Ms. Tran Thi Hai Ha shared that at the end of 2023, her husband unfortunately had an accident, breaking both legs and one arm. The family spent all their assets and had to sell the house to pay for her husband's treatment. After discovering that her daughter was seriously ill, she borrowed money from relatives to treat her child. After that, the whole family moved to live with her grandparents in Bich Nhoi 3 area, Minh Tan ward.
“During the days in the hospital with my child, seeing her sick and weak, I cried and she cried too. Nhung’s brother, a second-year university student, felt sorry for her and her parents and asked to quit school to take care of her and go to work to help the family,” Ms. Ha confided, holding back tears.
Nhung’s family is in a difficult situation, especially since her daughter fell ill, Ms. Ha had to quit her job to take care of her. All living expenses and medical expenses for her daughter depend on Mr. Mac Thanh Tri. The wound on Mr. Tri’s leg has not fully healed yet, but he still tries to find a job to earn extra income. Due to his poor health, he cannot work regularly, while the cost of medicine to treat his daughter each month is up to tens of millions of dong.
“The family has spent nearly 200 million VND on treatment for our child. Now he has to continue to be hospitalized for treatment. The money we borrowed has been exhausted. The cost of treatment is high and may be long, but whatever we can do for our child, our family will do our best. We hope that he will soon recover from his illness and return to his family and continue going to school with his friends,” said Ms. Ha.
Mr. Bui Van Ban, Chairman of the Phu Thu Ward Red Cross Society, said: “Ms. Ha’s family is facing a lot of difficulties because the long-term treatment costs for her daughter are very high. We hope that benefactors will help so that the family can have the conditions to treat Nhung and get her healthy again.”
