Thom in Quang Phuc commune (Tu Ky) needs help

Since birth, Thom has been disadvantaged compared to her friends because she did not receive love and care from both her father and mother due to her parents' failed love life. Thom and her mother, Nguyen Thi Tham (born in 1984), had to depend on her maternal grandparents. Not only lacking love, the material life of her maternal grandparents and Thom and her mother was also very difficult. Tham had diabetes. Her maternal grandparents did not have a pension and were weak.

When Thom was a few months old, Ms. Tham left her child with her grandparents to work abroad in the hope of having a chance to overcome poverty.

Thom has an intellectual disability and is not as agile as her peers. Thom is shy and does not communicate much with people.

For the past 10 years, Thom has not had the chance to be close to her mother, to feel her warmth and love. She only knows her mother through photos and a few times when Tham called home.

The longing and desire of a child who has been away from her mother for so long seemed to be about to come true when Ms. Tham planned to return to reunite with her family in early 2025. But in mid-January 2025, Ms. Le Thi Tu - Thom's maternal grandmother received the news that her daughter had passed away in Malaysia due to severe diabetes. Hearing the bad news, the 84-year-old mother was stunned and her spirit collapsed.

A few years ago, Thom’s grandfather also passed away, leaving her and her grandmother alone in a severely dilapidated house. Their lives now depend on a small pension from Mrs. Tu.

Mr. Pham Tien Cong, Secretary of the Quang Phuc Commune Youth Union, said that with the spirit of "helping each other", relatives, friends and fellow countrymen of Ms. Tham in Malaysia brought her remains back to her hometown before Tet.

The life of the grandmother and grandchild is currently facing many difficulties and is in dire need of help.
