Hai Duong cares for and promotes the role of the elderly

This year, the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam (October) has the theme “Joining hands to protect, care for and promote the role of the elderly”. Hai Duong is effectively implementing many policies to care for the elderly.

On June 5, leaders of the People's Committee and representatives of the Elderly Association of Tan Binh Ward (Hai Duong City) presented gifts to members in difficult circumstances.

To implement the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam, the People's Committee of Hai Duong province requires authorities at all levels, the Fatherland Front, departments, branches, unions, and Associations of the Elderly at all levels to implement the action month with practical content, suitable to the functions and tasks of the branch, and local and grassroots conditions.

Agencies, units and localities promote communication activities, convey the meaning and message of the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2024; combine propaganda of policies and laws related to the elderly to raise awareness of people, authorities at all levels and localities to join hands to care for, help, contribute to caring for, protecting and promoting the elderly.

Continue to effectively implement policies for the elderly according to regulations of the Central and the province; commend and reward the elderly with outstanding achievements; review, grasp the situation, support and help the elderly in difficulty, lonely and homeless, and the elderly who are eligible for policies to improve their lives.

Agencies, units, and localities effectively organize and implement programs and projects to support the elderly in the province. Mobilize society to join hands in taking care of the health of the elderly such as: establishing a primary health monitoring book, organizing periodic health check-ups for the elderly; supporting the purchase of health insurance cards for the elderly who do not have health insurance cards; organizing and mobilizing additional resources for the "Fund for Care and Promotion of the Role of the Elderly"...

Develop and maintain the activities of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs and other types of cultural, artistic, physical education and sports clubs; health clubs suitable for the elderly; maintain the pilot model of "Community-based Elderly Care and Counseling"...

Create conditions and encourage the elderly and officials of the Elderly Association at all levels to actively contribute their experience and intelligence to participate in building the grassroots political system, contributing to building cultural families, villages, cultural residential areas, local conventions and regulations, protecting the environment, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, etc.

In the plan to implement the Action Month for the Elderly this year, the Provincial People's Committee also set out specific progress for each month, towards the peak action month.

From now until the end of June, departments, branches and localities will develop and implement specific action plans. From July to September, continue to maintain propaganda and proactively organize practical activities to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons on October 1. From October to the end of December, agencies and units will organize the celebration of the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 1991 - October 1, 2024 in accordance with the actual situation; organize a peak period of "Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam"...
