At home at the Allianz Arena on the evening of October 14, Germany started off dominating the Netherlands. Coach Julian Nagelsmann's team continuously passed the ball through the middle for striker Tim Kleindienst to break through, passed the ball to the second line to finish, or passed the ball down the wing for the winger to cross. In addition, Germany increased the intensity, causing the Netherlands to often make mistakes.

In the second minute, the score was almost 1-0 in favor of the home team. Jamie Leweling's shot hit a Dutch player's foot and changed direction, flying into the goal, but the referee and VAR disallowed the goal after catching another German player offside.

Germany only needed 48% possession to shoot 13 times, five of which were on target. In contrast, the Netherlands had more possession but only had three shots, one of which was on target.

In the 28th minute, Leweling continued to miss in front of the Dutch goal. The 23-year-old winger from Stuttgart stood empty in the penalty area after a cross from the right wing, but shot lightly at the opponent's defender's feet.

Undaunted by the missed opportunities, Germany continued to apply pressure. Under the high intensity of the home team, the Dutch defense continuously lost possession and had to rely on luck to avoid conceding an early goal.

In the 42nd minute, the Dutch defender accidentally passed the ball to Serge Gnabry's foot, creating a shot, but the ball went wide of the post.

In the 64th minute, the home team finally took advantage of the opportunity. After the Netherlands cleared a corner kick, Leweling rushed in to shoot from 12 meters into the top corner. The 23-year-old winger scored on his debut for the national team. Coach Nagelsmann called up the Stuttgart star to replace Jamal Musiala, who was recovering from an injury.

The Netherlands played better after conceding the goal. They started to cause trouble for the German goal from the 76th minute, but Xavi Simons' long-range shot hit the crossbar.

The presence of Donyell Malen in the second half also helped the Netherlands improve. In the 90th minute, the Dortmund winger almost equalized when he shot from 18 meters into the near corner, forcing goalkeeper Oliver Baumann to make a reflex save.

In the final minutes, Germany successfully defended their 1-0 victory. Nagelsmann's team currently leads Nations League A Group 3 with 10 points after four games, five points ahead of the Netherlands and Hungary. Bosnia & Herzegovina is bottom with one point. With the Netherlands and Hungary still playing each other, Germany have secured their place in the quarter-finals with two games to spare.

Germany are the first team to reach the quarter-finals. Nagelsmann's team won three and drew one of their first four matches.
