On September 19, Google - a subsidiary of Alphabet - announced that the chatbot Bard will be able to verify the accuracy of answers and analyze users' personal Google data.
In an effort to stay competitive in the AI race, Google rolled out Bard Extensions, which allow users to import their data from other Google products. For example, users can ask Bard to search their files in Google Drive or provide a summary of their Gmail inbox.
Google senior product manager Jack Krawczyk said that currently Bard users can only get information from Google apps, but Google is working with outside companies to connect their apps to Bard in the future.
Google also added another feature to Bard to avoid errors in the tool's answers. Accordingly, Bard users can compare the application's answers with Google search results. In addition, another new feature of Bard allows users to invite others to the tool's conversations.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT app launched last year, kicking off a race in generative AI. At the time, ChatGPT had the fastest user growth of any app in history and is now one of the top 30 websites in the world.
To compete with ChatGPT, Google launched the Bard chatbot in February this year. However, according to analytics firm Similarweb, the app received 183 million visits last August, just 13% of ChatGPT's visits.
